Are you interested in becoming a Community Futures Parkland volunteer board member?

As per CF Parkland’s Bylaws the following is the procedure for board appointment.

2.5.1 Composition:
The Corporation shall be governed by a Board of Directors composed of twelve (12) members to a maximum of eighteen (18) members. A maximum of two (2) members of the 18 member board may be considered as members at large. (see Section 2.5.2 (ii) “Member at Large”. Every reasonable effort will be made to maintain the maximum allowed. All members will be selected from throughout the Parkland through a public recruitment and consultation process utilizing local media, community groups, personal and professional referrals, municipal councils, or any other means. Members will be selected based on qualifications and experience. Selection and appointment will be done at the sole absolute discretion of the existing Board of Directors of the Corporation, based on its needs and priorities. Equitable geographic representation will be pursued as well as selecting representatives of the region’s aboriginal communities. The Board of Director’s will monitor all the finances and activities of the Corporation.

i. Board Member Eligibility:
To be eligible to become a member of the Board of Directors the prospective member must be a resident of the defined Parkland region.

ii. Ex-Employees Ineligible:
Ex-employees of the Corporation or ex-employees of any project managed or delivered by the Corporation are ineligible to become a board member for a period of 5 years after the date of their last employment.

iii. Member at Large:
The Corporation’s Board of Directors may consider allowing up to two (2) members of the Board of Directors to be considered as “Members at Large”. A “Member at Large” is defined as an existing Board Member who becomes a non-resident of the Parkland Region but remains a board member by approval of a minimum of 2/3 vote of the existing Board of Directors present at a meeting. In order to allow for a “Member at Large” the existing Board of Directors needs to consider and evaluate the current and future functionality of the Corporation (logistics, present number of members of the board of directors, interest expressed by the member, the possibility of replacing the member who has moved, trying to find volunteers, etc.). The “Member at Large” will be encouraged to obtain a letter of support from the council of the area they were a resident in prior to their change in residency.

iv. “All members at Large”
Positions are subject to review by the rest of the board at any time but not less than once annually.
