News Date: Aug 04, 2011
The Board of Directors for Community Futures Parkland is pleased to announce that starting August 1st we are offering help to new immigrants in parts of our region. Parkland Regional Settlement Services is a newly started project that offers assistance to newcomers in Dauphin, Gilbert Plains, Grandview, Roblin & Rossburn. Funded through the Manitoba Immigrant Integration Program - a program offered by MB Labour and Immigration- we are now able to fill a gap in some parts of our region. Immigration Settlement Services includes (but not limited to) assistance with immigration applications, MB Healthapplications, job-searching, EAL classes and notarizing documentation. "Community development is part of Community Futures Parkland's mandate. Growing Communities are healthy communities and the attraction of skilled foreign immigrants has been a proven economic success story for our province" says Martijn van Luijn, general manager for CF Parkland. "There is no doubt that new immigrants need help getting settled in their community. We also believe that providing newcomers with proper support will increase the changes of these new families staying in our communities for the long-term" says Doris Schmitt Laroche, settlement coordinator for Dauphin-Gilbert Plains-Grandview-Roblin. Services are being offered from offices in Grandview, Roblin and Rossburn and some (limited) travel is available. For more information and office hours, please contact Doris at (204)546-5100, email immigration@cfparkland.ca or Ilse (Rossburn area only) at (204) 859-2779, email immigration@town.rossburn.mb.ca For more information regarding Community Futures Parkland please contact Martijn van Luijn @ (204) 546-5100 or info@cfparkland.ca. www.cfparkland.ca
